Mohamed Zidan has been recalled to the Egypt squad for their vital final World Cup qualifying match against Algeria next month.

The Germany-based striker was dropped after failing to show for a friendly earlier this year.

Zidan missed two 2010 qualifying matches but with goals crucial to the Pharaohs' chances of making it through, he has returned to the squad.

Zidan has reportedly apologised to coach Hassan Shehata for his behaviour.

But there is no place in the line-up for out-of-sorts striker Mido who now plays at Cairo club Zamalek.

Egypt scraped a 1-0 win over Zambia in their most recent group game to keep their hopes of making it to South Africa alive.

The Pharaohs need to beat Algeria by a margin of three goals or more to secure their place at South Africa 2010.

A win for Egypt by two goals would take the teams to a one-off play-off match at a venue yet to be decided on 18 November.

A one-goal victory for the home team, or a draw or defeat, will see Algeria through to South Africa and the double-African champions restricted to the Nations Cup yet again.

Egypt will be hampered by the loss of veteran defender Wael Gomaa who is included in the squad despite being suspended for the game.

Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa, who is 35 years old has been called in as cover.

Egypt squad:

Goalkeepers: Essam Al Hadari (Ismaili), Abdul Wahed Al Sayed (Zamalek), Mahmoud Aboul-Saoud (Mansoura)

Defenders: Hani Saied (Zamalek), Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa (Eskisehirspor, Turkey), Sherif Abdul-Fadil (AlAhly), Ahmed Saied (Haras El Hodood), Moatasem Salem (Ismaili), Wael Gomaa (Al Ahly)

Strikers: Amr Zaki (Zamalek), Mohamed Zidan (Borussia Dortmund, Germany), Emad Motaeb (Al Ahly), Ahmed Raouf (Enppi)
