Chamakh eyes Bordeaux exit

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh
Chamakh heads home for Bordeaux

Morocco striker Marouane Chamakh has confirmed that he will leave Bordeaux at the end of the season if they win the French league.

The 25-year-old has played a vital role in the club's success this season, scoring twelve goals so far.

Les Girondins are challenging Olympique Marseille for the top spot in French Ligue 1.

If Bordeaux can win their first title in a decade, it would mark the end of the road for Chamakh.

"I have said it and I still confirm it," he told French cable television station, Canal Plus.

"It is something I envisage if I end up as champion with my club.

"I have been a professional at Bordeaux for seven years. It would be a great way to finish things off."

The Morocco international has been heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League.

Earlier this season, Chamakh said he would be interested in moving to Tottenham or one of the clubs in the so-called 'big four'.
