Kotoko fire coach Cooreman

Maurice Cooreman
Cooreman only lasted three months at Asante Kotoko
Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko have fired their Belgian coach Maurice Cooreman.

The departure was agreed by mutual consent on Tuesday and follows a 2-1 home defeat to bitter rival Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

It was Kotoko's first loss at home to Hearts in 10 years.

Cooreman, 65, left Nigerian club Enyimba last November to take up a two-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors.

But despite his success with Enyimba, things did not go so well for Cooreman at Kotoko.

The club are in second position in the league, but seven points behind leaders Hearts after nine matches.

Cooreman's assistant, Isaac Opeele Boateng, will become Kotoko's caretaker coach.
