Collat wants to develop junior football in Mauritius
Mauritius have ended their search for a national coach by appointing Frenchman Marc Collat as technical director.

The Indian Ocean islanders have been without a national coach since September last year.

Collat played from 1960 to 1983 with Stade Français, Malakoff, Versailles and Racing Club between 1960 and 1983.

He has coached Qatar's under-20 team and Algerian club USM Alger.

"Gérard Houiller, Jean-Michel Bénézet and François Blaquart from the technical direction of the French Football Federation proposed my name and I have accepted," Collat told BBC Sport.

"It's with great pride I'm taking this post since I haven't had any international engagements since I left USM Alger [of Algeria].

"I'm aware of the results of the senior team but my main goal is to develop the youth set-up as youth represent the future.

"There's a lot to do but I don't have a magic wand. I can assure you that I want to have quality players in the years to come."
