Nigeria's Dickson Etuhu is delighted to be back in action after making his first league start for Fulham in their 2-2 draw against Chelsea on Sunday.

He joined Fulham from Sunderland in August but has not played since February because of a knee problem.

"It was great to feel the atmosphere once again; it's something I have really missed," he told BBC Sport.

The midfielder made his debut for Fulham as a substitute in their 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on 20 December.

"It's difficult when you come back from a long term knee injury," he explained.

"I feel as though I'm getting stronger. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season now."

The 26-year-old Nigerian international is now eyeing a regular run of games in the Fulham side.

"There is no point pushing too hard for personal lost time but instead to fight for the team and that's what I have to do," he said.

"Now I have to work harder and hopefully I can establish myself in the middle again."

Etuhu is confident his team can keep up the tempo.

"Nothing is impossible and we know we can start translating our weekly performance to maximum points."

"I am so happy to be in this group and that motivates everyone here to want to give more.

"The last game [the 2-2 draw against Chelsea] is a true reflection that we can achieve more than people expect of us."

Etuhu began his career at Manchester City, before signing for Preston North End in 2002 and then joining Norwich in 2006.
