Niger's federation announced Anghelescu's sacking on Friday
Romanian Dan Anghelescu's reign as the coach of Niger is over after a disastrous six-month spell in charge.
The 40-year-old's contract will not be extended by the Niger Football Association when it expires at the end of the month.
Frederic Costa, who is the current coach of the country's U-17 team, has been named to take over.
"We have decided that coach Dan Anghelescu's contract will not be extended when it expires on 31 December," NFA secretary general Sani Abdou told BBC Sport.
"Frederic Costa, who has proved that he is capable of taking the national team to greater heights, is the new coach."
Anghelescu was tasked with helping Niger to reach the second phase of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers when he took over from local coach Hameye Amadou in June.
But the Mena failed to advance and also won few plaudits for their play at the UEMOA Cup which forced the drastic action.
Costa, who led the country's U-17 team to qualify for the African Youth Championship for the time earlier this month, is expected to revive the team.
