Al Ahly 2 Coton Sport 0

Ahly are hoping for a record 6th trophy, Coton Sport for their first

It's the climax to what has been a thrilling campaign - and history will be made however it turns out.

If Ahly of Egypt win over two legs against Coton Sport of Cameroon, then they will become the first team to be crowned champions of Africa six times.

If Coton Sport triumph, it will be their first continental title.

Full time score: Al Ahly 2-0 Coton Sport

93rd min FULL TIME 2-0 Al Ahly. Referee Jerome Damon blows the final whistle as Al Ahly take a 2-0 lead into what should be an interesting second leg in Gorua in two weeks time. Having overcome the shock of going down to two early goals, Coton Sport showed enough to suggest the tie is not over yet and the Egyptian giants may yet rue the chances missed by Flavio and Aboutrika.

89th min Aboutrika fires a free kick from the left hand edge of the Coton Sport box over the bar.

87th min Osama Hosny comes on for goalscorer Flavio who leaves to rapturous applause from the 65, 000 crowd.

86th min Coton Sport bring on Ndame Ndame for Amadou Ngomna.

85th min Sayed Moawad makes a great run into the box cutting in from the left and it's only a good save by the impressive Kassaly that prevents Al Ahly from getting a third goal.

82nd min - Flavio's turn to miss a sitter after Aboutrika, who after getting behind the Coton Sport defence, lays it off for the Angolan who fires over the bar from close range with the goalkeeper out of position.

75th min Aboutrika of all people misses a sitter from 10 metres out as Shady Mohammed races down the right and Flavio dummies leaving the Al Ahly dangerman to apply the finishing touch.

74th min Coton Sport replace Doagari with Oumarou Sanda while El Hamid makes way for Boujelbene Anis in the Al Ahly lineup.

69th min Coton Sport appear to be gaining more confidence as they spend more time in the Al Ahly half. Amadou Ngoma forces the home side's goalkeeper to dive smartly to his right to save a fierce 20m shot.

65th min Good anticipation by goalkeeper Kassaly prevents a third for Al Ahly as he saves at the feet of Flavio when he goes for the return ball from Aboutreika played from just outside the box.

64th min Coton Sport midfielder Mpondo is booked for deliberate handball as he blocks the marauding Flavio who is on way to the danger zone.

60th min Daouda has the ball in the back of the net but the Al Ahly defence had already stopped playing having seen the offside flag.

58th min A free kick from the left hand edge of the box causes problems in the Coton Sport defence and it's only after a few desperate clearances that the danger is finally averted.

54th min Flavio fires a left-footed shot well wide of the right upright of the Coton Sport goal.

49th min Aboutrika brings some life to what has been a sedate start to the second half as he beats three Coton Sport defenders before being stopped in the box.

46th min They're back underway in Cairo.

HALF TIME 2-0 to Al Ahly courtesy of headers from free kicks in the 3rd minute by Wael Gomaa and in the 13th minute by Flavio. They have the start they needed.

45th min The fourth official signals one minute will be added as Coton Sport finish the first half strongly.

44th min Coton Sport miss a great opportunity to grab a vital away goal as Zoua Doagari just fails to get a boot to a loose ball just outside the six yard area. The chance was created by a superb piece of skill by dangerman Kamilou Daouda who beats two defenders inside the box before playing the ball across the six yard area which creates panic in the Al Ahly defence.

39th min Flavio misses a great chance to make it 3-0 as his close range header from a cross by Ahmed Hassan on the right goes narrowly wide.

38th min A good move down the left by Coton Sport breaks down with a poor cross which goes behind the goalline.

34th min Free kick to Coton Sport midway inside the Al Ahly half is wasted as Abdoul Karim Lassana fires high and wide over the goal. A ball floated into the penalty area may have been a better option.

26th min Another free kick to Al Ahly but Ahmed Hassan's ambitious attempt at goal from 30 metres out goes well wide of the Coton Sport goal.

24th min Al Ahly midfielder Ahmed Hassan is fouled on the left edge of the box but this time Cotonsport clear the resultant free kick.

22nd min Al Ahly are now in complete control as they pass the ball around crisply forcing Cotonsport to chase shadows. On this evidence, there could be a few more goals for the home side.

13th min GOAL! 2-0 Al Ahly. Terrible marking by the Coton Sport defence allows Flavio to guide a header from close to the penalty spot into the left corner of the net after a free kick by Mohamed Aboutreika midway inside the Cameroon side's half.

11th min After the early setback, Coton Sport get back into the game with some nice inter-passing in midfield but they fail to make any impression on the Al Ahly defence.

3rd min GOAL! 1-0 Al Ahly. Big defender Wael Gomaa sneaks in at the near post to powerfully head in a free kick from close to the left corner flag.

2nd min Gilberto is put through with a lovely long ball that pierces the Cotonsport defence but the goalkeeper does well to save in a one-on-one situation.

1st min The Champions League final kicks off in front of a full house at the Cairo International Stadium with Al Ahly in their traditional red shirts and Coton Sport in dark green shirts and black shorts.

10 minutes before kick-off The Cairo International stadium is an intimidating place for the visitors Coton Sport - but if things go wrong, the packed crowd could turn on their own team. How will the two sides cope with the pressure? We're about to find out.
