Algeria's JS Kabylie easily beat El Merreikh of Sudan 3-1 on Sunday to leap to the top of Group B in the Confederation Cup.

All three of Kabylie's goals came in the second half with Mali defender Demba Barry scoring in the 61st minute and then just two minutes later Nouri Ouznadji found the net.

Barry completed the scoring for the Algerians in the 72nd minute before Ezzaher grabbed a late consolation goal for the Sudanese side.

In the other Group B game Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel gained a valuable away point with a 2-2 draw against Ghana's Asante Kotoko on Saturday.

Kotoko led for much of the game after an early goal from Kwabena Yaro, but Slim Jedaied equalised for the African Champions on the hour.

An Eric Bekoe penalty put Kotoko ahead again, but Etoile levelled the game with seven minutes remaining, as Mohamed Ali Nafkha scored with a spot-kick.

Etoile's Muhammed Sako was sent off three minutes later.

In the final group games on the weekend 17-19 October Kabylie travel to play Etoile while Merreikh host Kotoko.

The results mean that going into those final matches Kabylie top the group with 9 points while Etoile and Kotoko are both 2 points behind while Merreikh are bottom and can no longer reach the final.

In Group A, CS Sfaxien of Tunisia ended the chances of Angolan side InterClube, with a 3-2 win in Luanda.

InterClube are bottom of the group with no way of progressing to the final in a competition where the two group winners go straight into the final.

Blaisse Kouassi put Sfaxien ahead on 13 minutes, Abdel Traore made it 1-1, but Abdelkrim Nafti put the holders back in the lead before half time.

An own goal from Dedas after 76 minutes sealed InterClube's fate, though Mingo pulled one back two minutes later.

In the other Group A game Club Africain were held to a 1-1 draw by Egyptian visitors Haras El Hadood on Sunday.

Oussama Sallami opened the scoring for the Tunisians with a 32nd minute penalty before Ahmed Abdelghani grabbed the equaliser for the Egyptians four minutes after half time.

The final games in Group A see a Tunisian derby with holders Sfaxien hosting Club Africain while InterClube travel to take on Haras El Hadood.

Sfaxien top the group with 10 points, their Tunisian rivals Club Africain are two points behind them, Hadood are third on seven points while InterClube are bottom with just three points.
