Nigeria striker Victor Obinna Nsofor says that he would like to leave Italian Serie A club Chievo Verona before the transfer window closes on 31 August.

Obinna Nsofor was one of the star players of Nigeria's Olympic silver medal-winning team, scoring three goals in Beijing, where Nigeria lost 1-0 to Argentina in the final.

He told BBC Sport that he will ask Chievo Verona for a transfer this week.

"I'm looking forward to a brighter future - to go and play for an important club, maybe in the European Champions League," said Obinna Nsofor.

"I want to go to a big club that will bring up more values and bring up the skills and that talent which I have in me.

Nsofor helped Chievo Verona to gain promotion to Serie A last season.

With the transfer window closing at the end of August, time is not on his side for a quick move.

"I know that. Now I'm going back to my club to discuss terms with them because this is my future," he said.

My dream is to play in the Champions League, so I'll go for a club that goes for the Champions League

"There are so many offers for me and I think it's high time I leave. I've played three seasons there and I think I've helped them.

"I wanted to leave them last season, they begged me, they said that I should stay so that I will come back to Serie A and then I can leave.

"They gave me their word, so they have to fulfil their promise."

Besides having played in all six of Nigeria's games at the Olympics, Obinna Nsofor has featured twice this year for the senior team in 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Having made an impact in Italy, he is not sure as to which country he would like to move to.

"I've had a wonderful experience in Italy, it's the style of play that I warm to.

"However, some people tell me that I should go to England, that I'm speedy, that I have skills in front, that I can beat any defender.

"My dream is to play in the Champions League, so I'll go for a club that goes for the Champions League."
