Namouchi injury blow for Tunisia

Hamed Namouchi
Namouchi had only just returned from a cruciate injury

Tunisia midfielder Hamed Namouchi will miss next month's crucial 2010 World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso because of injury.

The 24-year-old was forced off during the Carthage Eagles' 1-1 draw against Angola on Wednesday.

Doctors of his French club Lorient say Namouchi will be out of action "for four to six weeks" because of the hamstring injury.

The former Rangers player had only just returned from a cruciate injury, with scans revealing he had torn a muscle.

This means he will not be available when Tunisia travel to Ouagadougou to play the Group Nine leaders on 6 September.

The north Africans must win the game to maintain their hopes of taking the group's automatic ticket for the next phase of the qualifiers.

Burkina Faso lead the group with nine points while Tunisia are three points adrift.
