Zambia captain Christopher Katongo has joined German Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld on a three-year contract.

Katongo moves from Danish first division club Brondby, who he joined last year from Jomo Cosmos of South Africa.

The attacking midfielder completed his transfer after passing a medical with Bielefeld.

"I am happy as the Bundesliga is one of the best in the world," Katongo told BBC Sport.

Bielefeld narrowly missed relegation last season, finishing 15th in the 18-team league.

Meanwhile, Zambian teenage midfielder Justin Zulu has signed a five-year deal with Israeli second division side Hapoel Beersheba.

Beersheba is the club that Zulu's compatriot Chaswe Nsofwa was playing for before his tragic death last year after he collapsed on the pitch.

The 19 year-old Zulu says he still has fond memories about Nsofwa.

"The challenge is to fill the gap he left," he said.

"I am happy to have signed with Beersheba and my aim is to use this as a stepping stone."

Zulu was part of the Zambia team at the Under-20 World Cup in Canada last year.
