Namibia coach Arie Schans has left his job with immediate effect.
He acted after being summoned to a meeting with the Namibia Football Association (NFA).
Schans has lead the Brave Warriors for just over six months, but it became clear that the team had not met the NFA's expectations.
The side, which is made up mostly of amateurs, lie bottom of qualifying Group 2 for the 2010 World and Nations Cups, having recorded one win in four matches.
They still have a mathematical chance of making it through to the next round of qualifying.
The Dutchman took over just before the Brave Warriors went to the Nations Cup in Ghana.
They drew 1-1 with Guinea in their qualifying group, but lost their other two games and were eliminated.
Schans said the expectations placed on the team by the NFA were too high.
The NFA has refused to comment until after a review meeting at the weekend.
