Cameroon international Jean Makoun has left Lille to join another French club Lyon in a deal worth 21.6m.
The serial French league champions confirmed on Monday that Makoun has signed a four-year contract.
A few weeks ago Makoun was reportedly on the list of English Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Italian giants Juventus.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder will link up at Lyon with former Lille team-mate Kader Keita of Mali.
"I'm delighted to be arriving. I've been a Lyon target for a few
seasons but Lille were in the Champions League twice and vetoed it.
Now it's a done deal," added the 25-year-old.
Makoun has been offered the number 17 shirt at Lyon.
The number has not been used since Makoun's compatriot Marc Vivien Foe died of heart failure after collapsing on the field playing for the Indomitable Lions at the Confederations Cup in France five years ago.
