Hatimy has the full support of Fifa

South Africa have offered help to Kenyan football amid factionalism in the country's federation, according to Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

"I'm grateful for the offer of a coach and assistance such as giant screens to view the 2010 World Cup," Odinga said.

Odinga has been mediating a truce between two Kenya Football Federation (KFF) factions, a situation that could have led to an interational ban.

A government-sponsored group led by former KFF secretary Sam Nyamweya is vying for power with the Fifa-backed faction led by Mohammed Hatimy.

Both claim to be the official board governing the sport in the country.

"I want to thank Fifa, world football's governing body, for giving the government the time needed to resolve longstanding difficulties before they ruled us out of World Cup qualifying.

"I am also pleased that both sides of our sad football divide heard me out last month as I sought to find an urgent solution," added Odinga, an ardent football fan.
