Morocco's Abdeslam Ouaddou was racially abused in France
A Metz fan, who racially abused Valenciennes and Morocco's Abdeslam Ouaddou, has been given a three-month suspended prison sentence and banned from matches for three years.
The fan, identified as a 38-year-old security agent, Christophe H., abused Ouaddou during a game between the two sides in February.
He was also fined US$4,185 by the court after being found guilty of 'public injuries due to
race.'
Ouaddou himself reacted to the abuse by climbing into the stands to confront his
aggressor and was shown a yellow card.
He claims that he had told referee Damien Ledentu several times he was being abused before climbing into the stands, but Ledentu denies that.
The fan's lawyer said he did not think his client would appeal.
