Zambian international Rainford Kalaba has signed a five-year contract with Sporting Braga of Portugal.

The 21-year-old midfielder joins the Portuguese side from local champions Zesco United.

Kalaba scored 13 goals for Zesco last season and was crowned the 2007 Zambian Player of the Year.

?I'm very happy that my dream of playing in Europe has finally come true,? Kalaba told BBC Sport.

He added: "Football in Portugal is highly technical but I'm ready to fit into their system.

"For me, this is the time to work hard because I don't know what the future holds."

Kalaba is expected to link up with Braga in time for the start of the 2008/09 European season.

The diminutive playmaker has previously attempted to break into Europe but failed.

Two seasons ago, his trial at Dutch side Den Haag came to nothing and he also failed to make the grade at French side Nice during a six-month stint.
