Women's football has a strong presence on the African continent, with many of the powerhouse nations of the men's game providing strong female sides.

Nigeria's Super Falcons are Africa's top-ranked side, followed by Ghana's Black Queens and Morocco's Atlas Lionesses.

Of the seven Women's World Cup tournaments that have taken place, Nigeria have participated in every one.

After winning their sixth title in 2010, the Super Falcons are once again Africa's reigning champions.
