The DR Congo celebrate winning the African Nations Championship
The DR Congo won the first ever African Nations Championship

The Dr Congo won the inaugural African Nations Championship (CHAN) in the Ivory Coast beating Ghana 2-0 in the final.

The finals of the next tournament, which is only open to footballers playing in their home-leagues, will take place in 2011 in Sudan.

The finals in Sudan have been expanded to 16 teams from the eight nations that competed in the Ivory Coast in 2009.

The regional qualifying campaigns begin in November 2009.
