New Benin coach Reinhard Fabisch has confirmed a player who retired at the end of last season for his final Africa Cup of Nations squad.
Swiss-born Alain Gaspoz, 37, whose mother is Beninois, left his club FC Sion at the end of last season.
He is now player-coach at an amateur side.
He featured for the Squirrels at the Nations Cup in 2004 - Benin's only other foray in to the finals.
Benin are the underdogs in one of the toughest groups in Ghana where face Nigeria, Mali and Ivory Coast in Group B in Sekondi.
They kick-off their campaign with a match against Mali on 21 January.
