The Nigerian Football Association have allowed English Premier League side Everton to delay the departure of two players for the African Cup of Nations.
Striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni and defender Joseph Yobo will now join the Super Eagles' squad after Tuesday 8 January.
It means they will be available for Everton's League Cup semi-final first leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Yakubu scored the winning goal in his side's 2-1 defeat over West Ham United in the League Cup quarter-final.
