Apam robbed at gunpoint

Apam could play at the Nations Cup finals and Olympic Games in 2008

Nigeria defender Onyekachi Apam was abducted by unknown gun men in Enugu on Sunday.

His car was stolen while he was held at gunpoint.

Apam was later released by the three robbers.

He told Nigeria's Kick Off magazine that he was on his way home from church.

"They forced me to lie down at the back of the car and then they drove off," he said.

"I just thank God that I was not harmed in any way."

Apam is part of the Super Eagles squad for the Nations Cup, and a key member of the country's team for the 2008 Olympics.

He plays his club football in France for Nice.
