Chundunsing takes over from Gowreesunkur who resigned
Ashok Chundunsing has been named as the new national team coach of Mauritius.
The local manager takes over from his compatriot Sarjoo Gowreesunkur who resigned from the post last month.
Gowreesunkur quit after Mauritius failed retain their title at the Indian Ocean Islands Games in Madagascar.
Chundunsing is keen to impress in his second time in charge of the side, having coached the national team in 1998.
"The Mauritius FA has appealed to my services to help turnaround the fortunes of the national team and I have accepted the challenge", Chundunsing told BBC Sport.
"To achieve this I think we need to be strict while evaluating the competence of the players of the national team.
"Football is like horseracing. Sometimes you will have to use the whip against the players to make them perform at their best."
Chundunsing coached local side Sunrise in the 1990s and won several league titles with them.
