Shehata expects Mido to feature in their 2008 Nations Cup qualifier
Egypt striker Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam has been recalled to the national side after completing a six-month suspension.
The AS Roma forward was banned after exchanging words with Egypt coach Hassan Shehata during their African Nations Cup semi-final win over Senegal in February.
"Mido has completed his suspension period, which ended on 10 August. I hope he will be ready for the 2008 Nation Cup qualifier against Burundi," Shehata said.
The 22-year-old, who was on loan at English club Tottenham last season, is
among the seven European-based players called up by the reigning African champions for their Group Two qualifier.
Sherif Ekrami, Amir Azmi, Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa, Ahmed Abou-Mosallam,
Ahmed Hassan and Germany-based Mohamed Zidan are the other foreign-based players in the squad.
But Shehata insisted that he will continue to omit Turkey-based striker Ahmed Bilal and Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly from the national team.
"Both players had previously criticized me in the media and said they do not want to play under my command," Shehata explained.
Botswana and Mauritania will also face the African champions in Group Two.
