Morocco striker Tarek Sektioui has agreed a three-year deal with FC Porto, subject to a medical.
The transfer fee to be paid to Dutch club AZ 67 Alkmaar was not disclosed.
Sektioui claimed he rejected offers from England and Holland before opting for Porto's offer.
"Porto's coach, Co Aadrianse, played a key role in this transfer," said Sektioui in an interview with Moroccan newspaper Al Mountakhab.
"He knows me very well, as he used to be my club coach two years ago.
"Porto's a strong team that is used to winning titles and major honours like the Champions League.
"Besides, Portugal is also close to Morocco in terms of their way of life and the climate.
"I'm sure this will enable me to enhance my skills and perform well there.
"But I'll never forget my time in Holland which was a decisive milestone in my career but also in my personal life."
Sektioui, who started his European club career with French club Auxerre, spent seven years in Holland.
