Former France midfielder Alain Giresse has been named coach of Gabon's national team.
The announcement was made on the Gabon Football Association's official website on Saturday.
Giresse replaces Brazilian World Cup winner Jairzinho, who was sacked last September after a series of poor results.
The 53-year-old played alongside Michel Platini in the France side that reached the semi-finals of the 1982 and 1986 World Cups.
Giresse also coached Georgia between 2001 and 2005.
No details of his contract were immediately available.
