LuaLua suffers tragedy
I just wish to be with my family and be allowed to grieve privately. I appreciate everyone respecting my wishes
DR Congo captain Lomana LuaLua

DR Congo captain Lomana LuaLua is mourning the sudden death of his 18-month-old son who died while he was at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

"I am devastated by the tragic loss," the 25-year-old striker told the website of his English Premiership club Portsmouth.

"I am grateful and appreciative for the kind wishes and support I have received from everybody.

"As I am sure everyone will understand, I just wish to be with my family and be allowed to grieve privately. I appreciate everyone respecting my wishes."

LuaLua led DR Congo to the quarter-finals of the Nations Cup, where they lost 4-1 to Egypt.
