Cameroon veteran defender Raymond Kalla has been ruled out of the African Cup of Nations with an injury.
The 31-year-old was told by a doctor in Paris that he needs at least 15 days rest to fully recover.
"I'm disappointed I can't continue to play for my country in Egypt," Kalla told BBC Sport.
He added: "But I'm going to stay with my team in order to keep the good spirit and motivation alive."
Kalla picked up the injury during the Indomitable Lions' match against Togo on 25 January, which his side won 2-0.
He was stretchered off the pitch and later flew to Paris to consult a doctor. He returned to the Cameroon camp in Cairo on Saturday.
