South Africa striker Delron Buckley was banned for six weeks on Friday following his sending-off in a German Cup semi-final.
The suspension effectively bringing his season to a close.
Buckley, who plays for Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld, was dismissed for pushing referee Markus Merk in protest over a penalty awarded to opponents Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Bayern reached the final with a 2-0 win through an early goal and the penalty awarded in the third minute of stoppage time.
Replays showed that Bayern striker Claudio Pizarro had in fact fallen after a Bielefeld defender took the ball from his feet.
Buckley's ban will run until June 3. It does not apply to
international matches.
