Atletico fans threw a banana at Kameni
Spain's football federation have asked Atletico Madrid to pay a US$780 fine for the racist behaviour of their fans towards Cameroonian goalkeeper Carlos Kameni.

Bananas were thrown at the Espanyol player, who also received racist abuse from the 'Frente Atletico', an extremist group of supporters at the Madrid club.

It is the third time this year that Atletico have been sanctioned for racist incidents at their Vicente Calderon stadium.

The first occasion came during the Madrid derby against Real, where Brazilians Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo were abused.

There was a similar incident in the match against Sevilla, leading to another US$780 penalty.

Atletico officials and local police are currently analysing video recordings of the crowd, to try to identify those responsible.

The club says the fans club membership will be revoked and they should also expect criminal proceedings to be instituted against them.
