Brazilian coach Carlos Roberto Cabral has signed an 18-month contract to take charge of Egyptian champions Zamalek.
Cabral signed an 18-month contract
The appointment ends protracted negotiations between Cabral and the Cairo-based club. The Brazilian only put pen to paper on Wednesday despite having been in Cairo for over a week.
"We had some difficulties reaching a financial agreement but now everything is settled and I'm happy to be back at Zamalek," Cabral said.
The 59-year-old received a hefty signing on fee of US$150,000 for his second coming.
He will be paid a monthly salary of US$16,000 for the first 6 months. This will then be raised to US$20,000 for the remainder of his contract.
Club officials also revealed that while Cabral
is the team's boss, German coach Dragoslav Stepanovic, who was fired after a string of poor results, will keep his title as technical manager.
"We respect our contracts and Stepi will retain his job," Zamalek's vice-president Mortada Mansour confirmed.
"We gave him an open vacation and as far as we are concerned he can enjoy the warm weather of our country!"
