Hocine Achiou scores for Algeria after running from his own half, skipping past Hany Said and slotting past Nader El Sayed from near the penalty. Flares light the skyline again as Algerian fans celebrate an undeserved lead.
1942: Hazem Emam, who was dropped for this encounter, comes on to replace Tarek El Sayed with six minutes left to play.

1932: Algeria make a rare sortie upfield and Egypt defender El Tabei Bashir gets a knock from Cherrad Abdelmalek which holds up play.
1930: Ahmed Hassan, who has missed two clear chances for the Pharaohs, is replaced by Mohamed Barakat, who scored against Zimbabwe in Egypt's opening Group C game.
1929: Tamer is booked for a late challenge. Algerian fans rally their team as they chant and wave their scarves on the terraces.
1928: Egypt's Abdel Hamid Tamer has a strike from 30 yards but the shot flies over the bar.
1924: Achiou is hit in the face by a clearance from one of his own defenders and goes down for treatment. Play is held up which will come as welcome respite to Algeria who are under intense pressure. Both coaches issue instructions from the sidelines.
1923: The referee makes a very poor decision when he books Belal for diving in the Algerian penalty area, when the player was clearly fouled. For his troubles, Belal is booked yet the Pharaohs have been denied another spot-kick by some wayward officiating.

1838: With 7 minutes to go to half-time, there have already been 17 free-kicks in the match with only five having been committed by the Egyptians. From one of the free-kicks, Pharaohs' striker Ahmed Belal curls a 20-yard right-foot strike into the side-netting.
1835: Tarek El Sayed takes a pot shot from distance, but his strike flies well wide.
1833: Ahmed Hassan threatens in the box again but, teed up by a neat through pass, he can only shoot straight against Gaouaoui's legs.

1828: Gaouaoui is fortunate to see Mido's header rebound off the post after the keeper is beaten by the deflection. Gaouaoui hits his head against the post as he desperately tries to stop the ball going across the line.

Ahmed Belal chips home Tarek El Sayed's cross in delightful fashion. From an acute angle, the forward calmly steers the ball over Gaouaoui and into the open goal.
1824: Mamouni makes a powerful run into the Egyptian box, but fails to keep his cross in play.

Mamar Mamouni turns home Algerian skipper Djamel Belmadi's corner. Mamouni rises on his own to head the ball past Egyptian stopper Nader El Sayed from six yards, and the Algerians fans immediately light a number of flares in celebration. Smoke drifts across the pitch.
1811: The game is very tight in the congested centre of midfield with both sides keeping their shape well.
1808: Luxembourg referee Alain Hamer, who has been specially chosen for this game, books Algeria's Antar Yahia for his crude challenge on Ahmed Belal.
1803: The noisy Algerian fans cheer every pass their favourites make, while the whistilng is constant whenever Egypt touch the ball. Some 8,000 Algerian supporters are in the stadium, while the less numerous Egyptians are tucked away in a small corner of the Stade Olympique.
1801: Egypt force an ealry chance as Tarek El Sayed delivers a good ball to the back post which Ahmed Hassan heads wide of the right-hand post from close range.
1759 GMT: As Egypt get this game underway, there is already a keen atmosphere in the Sousse stadium. The numerous Algerian fans whistle the Egyptians as they pass the ball around.
Algeria make one change to the team that started against Cameroon. The injured Samir Beloufa is replaced by Brahim Zafour. The Desert Foxes will be hoping Nasredine Kraouche can improve on his quiet performance against the Indomitable Lions.
Egypt also make only one change, dropping Hazem Emam for Ahmed Fathi. There is no place in the starting line-up for Mohamed Barakat, who scored against Zimbabwe in the Pharaohs' opening game. Coach Mohsen Saleh will be hoping Mido can get off the mark in this needle match.
