Cameroon international striker Marcus Mokake has been rejected by Al Ahly after a three day trial at the Egyptian club.

The 22 year old, who will represent his country at the African Nations Cup later this month, scored for Ahly's youth team during his brief stay in Egypt, but failed to impress.

"He's not the kind of player I'm looking for," Ahly's Portuguese coach Manuel Jose told BBC Sport.

Club officials said one of the reasons for that decision is that Mokake, who plays for Canon Yaounde, is only 168cm tall.

He is one of only three home based players to be included in Cameroon's Nations Cup squad for the tournament in Tunisia later this month.

He was top scorer in the football event at the recent All Africa Games in Abuja, and was named as Cameroon's top footballer in 2003.
