Who is Africa's best in England?

The English league has come to a dramatic end.

But who is Africa's best player in the Premiership?

The influx of African players into England's top clubs has provided the Premiership with a global appeal that it had previously lacked.

With players at Manchester United , Arsenal, Aston Villa, relegated West Brom and Birmingham City, English fans have enjoyed the repetoire of African skill.

But whom would you pick as the African star that had the most influence?

Would it be Quinton Fortune, the South African striker at newly crowned champions Manchester United?

Or Ivorian international Kolo Toure, who had an impressive run of games in the Arsenal defence?

Or is it Nigeria's mercurial midfielder Austin "Jay-Jay" Okocha, whose stunning strike against Middlesbrough kept Bolton Wanderers in the top-flight for their longest stretch in 40 years?

Have Your Say using the form on the right.

Without a doubt, Jay Jay Okocha is the best and most skillful African player in my opinion. I have been a fan of this guy even before he made it to the English league. There is no doubt in my mind that if Jay Jay was British, he would be as revered as David Beckham.
Chris Banini, USA

Fortune, Geremi, Toure, Babayaro, Aiyegbeni and Lauren were great this season. But let's face it, the best is clearly Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha. He made passes you could only imagine in your dreams, scored vital goals and was largely responsible for Bolton's survival. S.O.J., Lagos, Nigeria.

Geremi is undoubtedly the best. Middlesbrough's performance this season was simply his making. More shall be heard from the Cameroonian next season if he gets a permanent contract.
Kevin, Berlin, Germany

Austin Jay Jay Okocha is the main man. Respect to the wizard.
Rylstone, UK

Austin Jay-Jay Okocha is Africa's best player in the world. Therefore, he is Africa's best player in the Premiership. Jay-Jay's skills and contributions to Bolton's survival in the premiership is akin to the contributions of football greats like Pele, Maradona and Johan Cruyff. He almost single-handedly rescued Bolton from relegation. Jay-Jay's skills, soccer intelligence and brilliance surpasses other players in his class like Zidane and David Beckham.
O. Balogun, London, UK

Jay Jay is simply magnificient! He is arguably the best African player not only in the premiership but in the world. He is simply in a class of his own. Jay Jay pratically and single handedly led Bolton Wanderers out of relegation waters. He is simply magical, and a jewel indescribable! I wonder if any African player can ever match Jay Jay's consistency since 1993!
Segun Rotimi Adeyemo, Abeokuta, Nigeria

Is there a need for the question? From the dusty hills of Enugu to the lush and majestic Buckingham Palace, there is only one name on everybody's lips...Jay-Jay Okocha. With his mercurial and scintillating displays, he seems to be asking Caf "What more do you want?" before you name me Africa's best player?
Ifeanyi Agwu, Port Harcourt, Nigeria

I think Geremi Njitap of Boro is the best. He scored many goals and also assisted in scoring many others. His performances at Boro have linked with a move to Manchester Utd if Beckham. Don't forget that Real Madrid do not want to get rid of him as he is a potential replacement for Claude Makalele.
Bill, Bunnik, The Netherlands

Other than Jay Jay Okocha, I don't think any one else from Africa plays in England. He was the best yesterday, today and now. More power to his unquenchable skills.
Abel Omobhude, USA

I will say this loud and clear! Despite a patchy relationship with his manager, Kanu of Arsenal is Africa's best. For those of you who are still unsure, don't even consider the spitting guy from Liverpool. He has failed to replicate his world cup glory there and he is not a good example of what an African player should be. As for Kanu, he has a social conscience to care about the health of his countrymen.
Nash Barugahara Amooti, Ugandan in Kent, UK

Quoting African historians,"No River Nile no Egypt". So, No Jay Jay, no Bolton in the English Premiership.Having watched Jay Jay in the recent concluded season, if you ask other nominated players, I am sure they would vote for genius Okocha because his football command, accurate passes and ability to deliver when all hope's is second to none.
Obiakwata Chijioke, Aba, Nigeria.

There is no controversy. Jay-Jay is the best African payer in England and Europe. He is the uncrowned African Footballer of the Year. I hope Caf will be fair in their selection next time.
Tubosun Labiran, Lagos,Nigeria

If you consider all the parameters used to categorize a soccer player, I believe Geremi of Middlesborough would come on top. Foe was good and quite consistent but any professional scout will pay more money to get Geremi's consistent versatility. Okocha is brilliant, a joker that can produce infrequent magical moments, even though they could come in a vital game. In a nutshell Okocha is brilliant but inconsistent and easily fatiguable; Foe is good and consistent; Geremi is very good, versatile, consistent and indefatiguable.
Collins Okwen, Boca Raton, Florida,USA

That Okocha is the best African player in the premiership is not in doubt. His skills are unbelieveable and his vision for good passes are fantastic.
Aguolu , Atlanta. Georgia,USA

Jay Jay Okocha is without question, the best African player in the premiership. I will not care to advance reasons because his displays during the championship is self-explanatory. I should also commend the consistency and brilliance of Arsenal's Lauren.
A. Egrinya Eneji, Japan

Even though I am Cameroonian, I have to be objective. The level of skill displayed by Nigeria's Okocha was exhilarating. He was simply a pleasure to watch. Lauren, Geremi, Kolo Toure, Fortune all tried their best but considering he was playing for Bolton Wanderers, a relegation candidate, Okocha's magic was dazzling. I doff my hat.
john miller, cameroun

Jay Jay Okocha is the man. The Wonderers are not wondering any more because of the master tactician in the middle. His experience has shown what this guy is made of. His work ethic is unquestionable
Mark, Los Angeles, CA. USA

Undoubtedly, Okocha is the best African player in the Premiership. This conclusion was reached without any bias and it was based on the achievements of Okocha with his club. He helped them evade the dreaded relegation zone and put the smile on the face of supporters. Fans at Bolton and Nigeria can testify to this fact.
Josiah Alamu, USA

Geremi has been a model of consistency at Middlesbrough and he has never faltered since he joined the Premiership. He gets my vote .
David Madzivanyika, Zimbabwe

This season its's Lomana Lua Lua but if Sheffield United get promoted my vote will go to Peter Ndlovu!
Philip, Australia

Simply Jay Jay. My heart has been with Okocha since the USA '94 World Cup. It's unbelievable that a player with such class and composure is still treated like a third rate player. You see Okocha and simply have to compare him with Zidane. In my view, Okocha is worth double what they pay the Frenchman. I hope Okocha keeps the Super Eagles in flight forever.
Rybb, Poland/Zambia

There can't be better at the moment than Geremi Njitap of Cameroon. Real Madrid or Manchester United can better explain why they keep an eye on him.
Ifeanyi, Manchester, UK

There is no doubt that the dribbling master Jay Jay Okocha is the best African player in England. His contribution to Bolton's survival says it all.
Sellu Jallow, Seattle, Washington, USA.

Jay Jay Okocha is the best African footballer any European club could be lucky to have. Bolton Wanderers is a very lucky club to have him.
Adeolu , England

I want to say that without a doubt, that Jay Jay Okocha, is the best because he singlehandedly took his team out of relegation, but much credit has to be given to Geremi and Marc Vivien Foe for their consistent performance. But one should not forget Lauren Etame Mayer, even though he plays as a defender for Arsenal.
Andyson Ogugua Smith, Johannesburg, South Africa

There is no debate on this. It's simply Jay-Jay Okocha of Bolton Wanderers. His magnificent skills puts him aboe the pack. I am surprised he has never been African footballer of the year.
Samuel Kayondo, Kampala, Uganda

Laurent Etame Mayer is my best player in the Premier Leaque due to his consistence throughout the season and commanding a regular place in a star studded Arsernal.
Lloyd, Harare, Zimbabwe

I think Marc Vivien Foe is the best African player in the English League. His nine goals this season are unbeatable. I think he is a leader and has been a regular from start to end.
Bate Oben, San Diego, CA/USA

Without mincing words, Cameroon full back Lauren is the best African player in the English league. He gets regular first team football and is a real leader for other African players to follow.
Ndateh, Southampton, UK

Lucas Radebe is my choice. He's a legend at leeds. He was injured for so long but when he's fit and healthy, he's a quality defender.
Tony Brown, England

Jay Jay is the man! Just ask Uncle Sam (Allardyce)of Bolton and he'd tell you. Jay Jay is simply the best!!!!
Okey, Austria

Jay Jay is my pick of the pack. His form was unbelivable. I actually thought he would suffer in the premiership, but he's shown a level of discipline and dedication that has been lacking in his career .
Fela Bank-Olemoh, Lagos, Nigeria

The choice is so obvious. Jay Jay Okocha is by far the most entertaining, experienced, and gifted African footballer in Europe. This is common knowledge. Hopefully, Jay Jay will get the recognition he truely deserves. I hope he never retires.
Ife Sofola, Spain/U.S.A.

it is undoubtedly Jay Jay Okocha. He is infact the best attacking midfielder in the premiership. He is the reason why Bolton is still retaining its premiership status. i doff my hat for the most talented, most skillful and most impressive african player to grace the premiership.
Olayinka Oduwole, London

Austin 'Jay-Jay' Okocha. Simply the Best. Slow start in the premiership but has now taken flight and more is still to come next season, hopefully with a bigger club, so he can once again take his skills to Europe
Femsta, London

Jay Jay Okocha gets my vote for his sublime skills, flair and brilliance in ensuring that Bolton retained premiership status.
Oladele Osinuga, London, UK

Jay-Jay Okocha obviously. He's been a revelation at Bolton with some fantastic goals
Beckham, Ghana

There is no doubt that Jay Jay is the best African player not only in the Premiership but Europe. I am still surprised that is not the African Player of the Year. There must be problem with the system used in selecting Africa's best and Caf must look into this. Jay Jay's talent is in the class of Zidane. If he were European, we would probably appreciate him more.
Okey, Lagos, Nigeria

I think the best player is Cameroon's Laurent Etame Mayer.
Bambot Nwana, Maryland, USA

I think the best African player has been none other then Geremi Njitap of Middlesbrough. He brought light and life to the team, scoring seven goals and assisting in almost all goals scored by the team.
Francis, Germany

Quinton Fortune is the man. After being dogged with injury at the start of the season, he came to be instrumental in the best perfomances of Manchester United.
Mangaliso Jere, Lilongwe, Malawi
