Nigeria's Super Eagles have landed in Banjul with an 18-man squad drawn entirely from the domestic league for Sunday's friendly against Gambia.

Coach Christian Chukwu told BBC Sport that his team is entirely locally based because the match had been hurriedly arranged, allowing little time to invite overseas players.

We are want a strong test before our next qualifier

"However, we are very glad to be here," he said. "It's a chance for us to expose our local players, who are very much part of the national team".

Gambia meanwhile, have called back many of their foreign-based stars in their 23-man squad.

Technical director Sang Ndong said 14 overseas players were available, five more than were included in the squad that beat Lesotho 6-0 in last October's Nations Cup qualifier.

The new names are Ebou Sillah from Roosendaal FC in Holland and Arthur Gomez who plays at Antwerp in Begium.

And up for their first caps are the Njie brothers Momar and Abou Njie from SV Horn and Berlin FC, and Omar Ceesay from FC Klein Luzern.

"We want to have a strong test before meeting Senegal in our next qualifier. There are plans for another friendly match in Holland with a team yet to be identified," said Ndong.

Meanwhile Banjul is full of excitement in anticipation of the match, and with a 15,000 strong Nigerian immigrant community in Gambia, a big crowd is expected.

The match is due to kick-off after the Champions league preliminary round game between Wallidan and Benin¿s Dragons Lomere.
