Fans of Al Ahly went agog on the streets of Cairo, defeating city rivals Zamalek 6-1 on Thursday night.

It was Zamalek's biggest derby loss since the commencement of the Egyptian league fixture in 1948.

Khaled Bebo, who scored four goals, was Ahly's man of the match.

It was the first time in the history of the fixture that any player had achieved this feat.

Ahly's attack seized the attacking initiative from the start of the encounter.

Reda Shehata began the rout with a 4th minute goal, with a second coming from Ibrahim Saied 24 minutes later.

Bebo's virtuoso performance was a thorn in the flesh of the Zamalek defence.

His dribbling and outstanding speed was a sight to behold.

Zamalek's lone goal came through Hossam Hassan, an ex-Ahly player.

Ahly's Portuguese coach, Manuel Hose was ecstatic about his club's triumph.

"I was hoping that we would score another goal to repeat my 7-1 win over Benfica in 1986, while I was in charge at Sporting Lisbon.

Bebo dedicated his performance to Ahly legend and former club president Saleh Selim, who passed away last week.
