Zambia coach shakes up squad
Rotson Kilambe
Kilambe has returned from suspension by Fifa
Zambia's new coach Patrick Phiri has selected five professionals in his new international squad get-together.

The team goes into camp this Sunday, and will stay together with a break every Wednesdays to allow local players to turn out for their respective clubs in league matches.

Among the surprise call-ups in the 26-man team is striker Rotson Kilambe - fresh from a Fifa ban.

Phiri has also summoned South Africa-based pint-sized winger Emmanuel Zulu, who missed out on the squad for the African Nations Cup.

The coach has, however, retained his faith in almost all of the professionals who went to Mali earlier this year.

Cologne duo Moses Sichone and Andrew Sinkala are included, as is Gift Kampamba of Sundowns and Harry Milanzi of Mexican side Correcaminos.

But left-back Hillary Makasa has been left out, as has goalkeeper Collins Mbulo, defender Jones Mwewa and midfielder Marks Sinyangwe.

Former South African league top scorer Dennis Lota, who indicated that he would retire after this year's Nations Cup, has also been left out.

Phiri has further announced that five players have been put on standby and can be called any time.

Goalkeepers: Davies Phiri (Kabwe Warriors), Kennedy Kalale (Nkana) and Sydney Tembo (Green Buffaloes).

Defenders: Laughter Chilembe (Nchanga Rangers), Elija Tana (Nchanga Rangers), Moses Sichone (Cologne, Germany), Charles Bwale (Nkana), Boas Chibwe (Zanaco) and Misheck Lungu (Nchanga Rangers).

Midfielders: Ian Bakala (Kabwe Warriors), Boston Mwanza (Nkana), Gift Kampamba (Sundowns, S/A), Numba Mumamba (Zanaco), Charles Lota (Kabwe Warriors) and Andrew Sinkala (Cologne, Germany) and Emmanuel Zulu (Supersport, S/A).

Strikers: Rotson Kilambe (Power Dynamos), Harry Milanzi (Correcaminos, Mexico), Chaswe Nsofwa (Zanaco), Philimon Chipeta (Lusaka Dynamos), Edward Kangwa (Zanaco) and Zacharriah Simukonda (Red Arrows). Standbys: Kelvin Mwanza, Clement Mulenga, Christopher Katongo, Francis Kasonde and Victor Lupiya.
