Shaibu 'still in charge'

Shaibu (middle) says he is still in charge
Shaibu Amodu insists that he is still the coach of Nigeria's national team.

Speaking to BBC Sport Online, Amodu said that he is yet to receive an official letter from the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) dismissing him from his position.

"I was invited by the committee on sports of the House of Representatives (a branch of Nigeria's National Assembly) to deliver a paper on the way forward for Nigerian football.

"It was during a question and answer session with the parliamentarians that I told them that I am still in charge, as far as I am concerned.

"Up to this moment, I have not been sent any official communication removing me from my position."

Amodu says that he has a contract with the NFA, which runs to October.

"I still have a valid and subsisting contract with the football association and if they want to terminate it, I would have to be paid compensation", he said.
