Zamalek crash out
Zamalek v Hearts in last year's competition
Zamalek, (l) will not contest this year's Cup winners final
Defending champions Zamalek are out of the African Cup winners Cup in a dismal weekend for Egyptian clubs in the quarter-final stage of the competition.

Zamalek went down 3-1 in Tunis at the hands of Club Africain, while South African side Kaizer Chiefs ended the hopes of Ismailia, with a 1-1 away draw.

Club Africain went through 3-2 on aggregate in a seesaw second leg at the Al-Menzah Stadium in Tunis.

The match turned decisively in favour of African with just four minutes left when leading scorer Amdy Marzouki snatched the third goal.

Rhimi put the Tunisians ahead on the stroke of half-time only for Hazem Imam to level after 50 minutes.

Another goal from Rhimi early in the second spell edged Club back in front, but Zamalek remained ahead on the away-goal rule until Marzouki struck his third goal in six Cup Winners Cup ties.

Kaizer chiefs celebrate their BP Cup win
The Chiefs have already tasted success this season
Club will now meet Kaizer Chiefs in next month's two-leg semi-final.

The Johannesburg club came from behind to draw 1-1 in Ismailia and qualified for the semi-finals on the away goal rule after a goalless first leg two weeks ago.

Abdelhamid Bassiouni, who helped Zamalek lift the Cup Winners Cup last year, converted a 41st-minute penalty for the home side and Arthur Zwane levelled with 10 minutes of the match remaining.

The first leg of next month's semis will be played in Johannesburg.

In the weaker half of the draw, Nigerian second division club Niger Tornadoes took a 1-0 lead over Inter Luanda to Angola.

But a stunning performance from Inter's Paty, who grabbed four goals in the first 52 minutes, swept Tornadoes aside as they lost 4-0 and 4-1 on aggregate.
