Zamalek splash out on friendlies
Zamalek will spend $2.2m on two friendly matches
Egyptian champions, Zamalek are planning to spend over two million dollars this year to host two foreign clubs in a friendly.
Italian side, Juventus and Brazil's Sao Paulo have been approached by the Egyptians for two separate matches within the last three months of this year. The move by Zamalek is widely seen as an extension of their rivalry with El Ahly who paid Real Madrid $1.6m for a friendly in Cairo. Ahly won the match 1-0 against a Real Madrid side that fielded the world's most expensive players Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo. Zamalek have proposed to pay the Brazilian side $1.2m for a match on 14 September and a negotiable $1m to host Juventus on 28 December.
