Fred Osam-Duodu picks the team that could stop Nigeria
Three teams with no chance at all of qualifying for the 2002 World Cup finals have named their squads for the last round of matches.

Zambia who will travel to Tripoli to play Libya have announced an all-home-based squad but both Ghana and Angola have infused foreign-based players for their games against Nigeria and Togo respectively.

The only team involved in the most crucial encounter is Ghana who stands between Nigeria and Liberia for a World Cup place.

The Black Stars

Coach Fred Osam-Doudu named four foreign-based players in his 22-man squad that will leave Accra for Port Harcourt on Thursday.

Portugal-based Emmanuel Duah will lead the foreign legion which includes Mohammed Gargo (Udinese, Italy), Charles Amoah (Sturm Graz, Austria) and Stephen Appiah (Parma, Italy).

Appiah has reported an injury but he said he will be joining the squad in Accra and if he is fit enough to play he will travel with the team.

Osam-Duodu has retained the same group of home-based players who were part of the squad that defeated Sudan 1-0 in Accra two weeks ago.

There was only one change with the inclusion of Asante Kotoko's Godfrey Yeboah to replace Hearts of Oak defender Amankwah Mireku who broke his arm at the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa.

The Black Stars squad was originally 23 but China-based striker Odartey Lamptey said he will not be available.

Angola at full strength

Meanwhile, Angolan coach Mario Calado has invited a full strength squad to play Togo in Luanda on Sunday.

Seven foreign-based players in Portugal are part of the 22-man squad for the match which Calado says he will take seriously as part of his rebuilding process after Angola missed out also in the Affrican Nations Cup finals in Mali.

Zambia missed the World Cup but have a spot in Mali which Dutch coach, Jan Brouwer says is the main reason why going to Libya with an upbeat attitude is important.

However, Brouwer has dropped the current top scorer in the Zambian league, Dudley Fichite of Green Buffaloes from his 18-member squad.
