Esperance and ASEC top seeds
Tunisian club Esperance and Ivory Coast's ASEC Abidjan have been named as the two top seeds for the African Champions League draw to be made in Cairo next week.

The Confederation of African Football announced that the two clubs would head the two groups in the mini-leagues, which kick off in August.

Esperance have been runners-up in the last two competitions while ASEC were the winners in 1998.

Al Ahly of Egypt and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa were made the second seeds, based on past performances in the Champions League over the last four years.

The four other teams that have qualified are Petro Atletico (Angola), TP Mazembe Englebert (Democratic Republic of Congo), Julius Berger (Nigeria) and CR Belouizdad from Algeria.

The eight sides will be divided into two groups and play each other on a home and away league basis.

The top two finishers in each group qualify for the semi-finals in November with the final being played over two legs in December.
