Torquay 3-2 Gillingham (agg: 3-4)
Tony Bedeau scored twice as Torquay shocked Gillingham in the Worthington Cup, but his side bowed out on aggregate.

Fit-again Bedeau, who missed the first month of the season after hitting 17 goals last term, headed Torquay into a 12th-minute lead.

An error by Torquay keeper Stuart Jones then presented Carl Asaba with an equaliser in the 24th minute.

Kevin Hill put the home side in front again three minutes later.

And when Bedeau stooped to head home a 47th minute Mick O'Brien free-kick for his second goal, a shock was on the cards with Torquay 3-1 ahead.

But just when Torquay looked as if they might wipe-out the 2-0 deficit from the first leg, defender Jimmy Aggrey sliced a Marlon King cross into his own net in the 50th minute.

Torquay United: Jones, Herrera, Neil, Aggrey, Douglin, Holmes, O'Brien, Hill, Ford, Parker, Bedeau. Subs: Northmore, Ashington, Mendy, Platts, Tully.

Gillingham: Bartram, Patterson, Butters, Hope, Edge, Southall, Lewis, Browning, Gooden, Asaba, King. Subs: Saunders, Bryant, Mitten, McGlinchey, Rowe.
