Cardiff 0-0 C Palace (agg: 1-2)
Crystal Palace went through to the second round of the Worthington Cup courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Cardiff at Ninian Park.

Leading 2-1 from the first leg, Palace signalled their early intentions in the second minute when defender Neil Ruddock saw his 20-yard shot blocked on the line.

But, as the game wore on, Palace seemed happy to sit back on their first-leg lead and it took until the 53rd minute for either side to seriously threaten again, as Jamie Pollock had his shot blocked by David Greene.

The Bluebirds never gave up in a scrappy encounter and Kevin Nugent let fly in the 78th minute, but Matthew Gregg was able to push it around the post for a corner.

Two minutes later Leon McKenzie had the chance to kill off the tie for Palace but he headed over from close range and the match ended goalless.
