It was a frustrating night for England against a well-drilled Montenegro side
Graham Taylor
Former England manager on BBC Radio 5 live
There were not a great deal of plusses to be taken from England's performance. We can start from the situation that Joe Hart never had a shot to save.
Montenegro set themselves up very well but what disappointed me was that England did not try a different sort of approach, or try different things to break them down.
That is not always necessarily from the manager's point of view but from the players as well. I did not see it coming on the pitch and neither did I see any change at half-time.
There were some fine saves by the Montenegro goalkeeper but you hear the boos and it is results that matter. If results do not come then the crowd will let you know their feelings.

It is a fundamental problem if you cannot pass it to each other effectively because you are just giving it back to the opposition and letting them off any pressure you have built.
Throughout the course of that game the word "guile" was key as far as England's passing was concerned. The movement was not great and the shape of the team was not particularly good either.
The only time England created any chances in the second half and forced the away keeper into making saves was when they got in behind the Montenegro back four with subtle passes or a bit of width.
It was a poor performance. On the plus side they have not conceded a goal but teams like Montenegro should be rolled over. Too many players for England had an off night.
