Billy Stark wants final push from Scotland U21s

Chris Maguire nets a penalty against Belarus
Aberdeen's Chris Maguire converted a penalty to equalise in Belarus

Scotland Under-21 coach Billy Stark is delighted to still be on track for a place at the Euro 2011 finals.

A win over Austria at Pittodrie on Tuesday will be enough to at least claim a play-off place, following Friday's draw in Belarus.

"There's not much between Austria, Belarus and ourselves and it's all going to come down to the last game," Stark told BBC Radio Scotland.

"We're up against a difficult side but we're looking forward to it."

Stark will have a full squad at his disposal after revealing that Paul Caddis and James Forrest should shake off knocks in time to feature in Aberdeen.

In Belarus, Stark's side fell behind in the 36th minute when Vladimir Yurchenko beat three men before drilling the ball across goal for Pavel Nekhaychik to blast home.

The Scots made a double substitution early in the second half with Forrest and David Goodwillie coming on for Jamie Murphy and Bannan and a new attacking zeal soon allowed them to level.

Paul Coutts was brought down and Chris Maguire stepped up to convert the 64th-minute penalty.

The Scots, who sit third in the section, have only lost once in an impressive qualifying campaign, with a 1-0 defeat away to the Austrians.

And Stark believes several members of his squad will be featuring for the senior national side in the future.

"We're always asked that question and we can always answer positively," he added.

"It's always about timing. If we're talking next week or the next set of qualifiers next month, I would say probably not.

"But hopefully a fair number of them can make the step up to become full internationals, although it is a big jump.

"If they can get success at this level they can take that confidence when they get an opportunity at the next step."
