Crystal Palace 2-1 Cardiff

Crystal Palace got the better of Cardiff at Selhurst Park with Clinton Morrison and veteran Neil Ruddock supplying the goals.

Morrison netted after 19 minutes and Ruddock after 34 - it was the big defender's first goal for the club since joining from West Ham.

But Sam Hammam's return to south London had something of a silver lining as Scott Young got an important away goal for Cardiff in the 55th minute.

Crystal Palace will not relish the trip to Ninian Park, where the influence of Hammam saw over 11,000 fans turn up for Saturday's Division Three game against Blackpool.

Crystal Palace: Gregg, Zhiyi, Ruddock, Mullins, Rodger, Morrison, Black, Forssell, Carlisle, Pollock, Harrison. Subs: Smith, Fullarton, Austin, McKenzie, Gray.

Cardiff: Walton, Brazier, Young, Greene, Boland, Bonner, Nugent, Legg, Brayson, Low, Gabbidon. Subs: Hallworth, Hill, Eckhardt, Earnshaw, Skelly.

Referee: K Hill (Royston)
