England women to play France
England Women's International Team
England women will take on France
England Women's international football team have accepted an invitation to play France before the men's France v Fifa World Stars international in August.

The games will take place on Wednesday, 16 August at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, and will help to raise funds and awareness for Fifa's nominated charity, SOS Children's Villages.

A Fifa spokesman said: "The English Football Association was selected to provide the team to face France in recognition of the great progress they have been making in the development of the women's game.

"Their efforts have been rewarded with this prestigious match".

England national women's coach, Hope Powell, said: "I am delighted to accept - it will be a great experience for the players and a good way to help us prepare for the European Championship play-offs in the Autumn.

"Whenever we have played France before it has been an entertaining open game between teams of similar standing - what a fantastic way to kick-off the season."
