A goal just three minutes from time from Ross Crick won the Wheway Cup for St Paul's, who have become the first club to win six trophies in one year.

But they had to come from behind as Clife Silva deservedly put Portuguese Club ahead on 27 minutes with a fine half-volley.

Crick equalised 10 minutes later from a similar effort and, after an even second half, slid in the late winner.

St Paul's have won the league, four cup competitions and the Upton Trophy.

Manager Craig Culkin told BBC Jersey: "We were running a bit on empty at times tonight but we knew what was at stake, we knew we were on the verge of something very special."

They want to win every single game they play.

"Perhaps a bit of nerves set in," he explained, "but we got there eventually and we can't be denied the success that we've had."

"They want to go and do this again next year. They want to win every single game they play; that's the desire and the drive that they have."

Portuguese manager Sergio Carolo said: "I'm really proud of my players. We gave St Paul's a really really hard game.

"Congratulations to St Paul's but we'll be back next year."
