Striker Marcus Bent joins QPR on loan from Birmingham

QPR have confirmed the signing of Birmingham striker Marcus Bent on loan until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has played for 12 clubs during a 15-year professional career and featured eight times while on loan at Middlesbrough earlier this term.

Bent, who has scored 110 goals in 545 career appearances, could make his debut at Peterborough on Saturday.

QPR have also completed the loan signing of Hungarian striker Tamas Priskin from Ipswich until 31 May.

Bent will wear the number seven shirt vacated by Wayne Routledge's recent move to Newcastle.

"I'm buzzing about coming here," Bent told QPR's official website. "I'm ready to go, I can't wait to get started."

"I was brought up in Shepherd's Bush and I used to go and watch the likes of Les Ferdinand and Andy Impey with my dad and my uncle," said 6ft 2ins Bent, who started his career with Brentford.

"As a kid you often followed the likes of Liverpool, and John Barnes was my idol, but QPR was definitely a team I followed and looked out for.

"There might be a bit of pressure on me to come in and get goals but I thrive on that to be honest. I think being under pressure brings the best out in you, and I put great demands on myself anyway.

"I want to play games, that's what you train all week for - to be involved on a matchday. That's every footballer's goal and is definitely the case with me.

"I played a few games for Middlesbrough this season, which was great because it really helped with my fitness.

"Now I am feeling really fit and I am ready to go."

Priskin, meanwhile, is an international team-mate of Rangers midfielder Akos Buzsaky and will wear the number 36 shirt at Loftus Road. He joined Ipswich last summer after a three-year spell with Watford, but has only scored one league goal from 17 appearances since moving in the summer.

Another QPR striker - Allesandro Pellicori - has joined Serie B club AC Manotva until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old Italian arrived at Loftus Road on a three-year deal last summer and scored on his debut against Exeter in the Carling Cup, but failed to score in nine subsequent appearances.
