The rise and fall of the Saints - upheaval and relegation
Strachan left the club in February 2004 and things quickly began to go wrong.
Paul Sturrock was appointed as Strachan's successor but it was a reign that was lasted just 13 games, and Steve Wigley's spell as boss was only marginally longer.
Harry Redknapp was next, making a shock switch from rivals Portsmouth, but he could not stop the Saints finishing bottom of the table to drop into the Championship.
BBC Radio Solent's Tony Husband:
"Redknapp's arrival was so controversial - and unsuccessful. The players never really recovered from letting a 2-0 lead slip with two minutes left in his first game."
